AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE

A BILL to require the Board of Education to amend certain regulations relating to the evaluation of a child to determine whether the child is in need of special education and related services.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. §1. The Board of Education shall amend subdivisions B 1 g and h of 8VAC20-81-60 and subdivisions H 2 and 3 of 8VAC20-81-70 of the Virginia Administrative Code to permit local educational agencies to shorten the deadline of 65 business days from the date of receipt of referral for an initial evaluation or a reevaluation of a child to determine eligibility for special education and related services.
