2025S0470-2 08/20/25     By: Hinojosa of Hidalgo S.R. No. 50       SENATE RESOLUTION          WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to   recognize the Ochoa family in honor of the 20th anniversary of   their family-owned restaurant, Palenque Grill; and          WHEREAS, Juan Francisco "Don Pancho" Ochoa entered the   restaurant business in 1975 when he opened the first El Pollo   Loco in his hometown of Guasave, Mexico; in the following decade,   Mr. Ochoa opened more than 100 locations in Mexico and   California, and in 1987 in Laredo, he opened the first Taco   Palenque, a Mexican fast-food chain that also quickly spread   throughout the region; and          WHEREAS, With the help of his son, Carlos Ochoa, and the   traditional family recipes from his wife, Flerida, the Ochoa   family's dream to open a full-service restaurant became a   reality, and the first Palenque Grill opened in McAllen in 2005;   since that time, the business has grown to include restaurants in   San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Laredo, McAllen, Edinburg, and El   Paso; and          WHEREAS, In the past 20 years, Palenque Grill has   flourished throughout South Texas, and the business plans to open   its eighth location in Brownsville in the near future; the   restaurant has become a mainstay for Texans seeking the   authentic, delicious North Pacific Mexican cuisine the Ochoa   family and their restaurant group have perfected, and all who   have contributed to its success are truly deserving of   recognition for reaching this special milestone; now, therefore,   be it          RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th   Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Don Pancho Ochoa   and the Ochoa family on their many valuable contributions to the   restaurant industry in Texas and extend to all with the Palenque   Restaurant group congratulations on Palenque Grill's 20th   anniversary and best wishes for continued success in the future;   and, be it further          RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for   the Ochoa family as an expression of esteem from the Texas   Senate.
