By: West  S.B. No. 1932          (In the Senate - Filed March 10, 2017; March 27, 2017, read   first time and referred to Committee on Business & Commerce;   April 24, 2017, reported favorably by the following vote:  Yeas 9,   Nays 0; April 24, 2017, sent to printer.)Click here to see the committee vote     A BILL TO BE ENTITLED   AN ACT     relating to eligibility requirements for registration as an   interior designer.          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:          SECTION 1.  Section 1053.155, Occupations Code, is amended   to read as follows:          Sec. 1053.155.  APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO EXAMINATION.     (a)  An applicant for a certificate of registration must apply to   the board, on a form prescribed by the board, for admission to the   registration examination.          (b)  An application for admission to the registration   examination must be accompanied by evidence satisfactory to the   board that the applicant:                (1)  has satisfied the educational and experience   eligibility requirements for taking the examination of the National   Council for Interior Design Qualification or a comparable   examination [graduated from an interior design educational program   recognized and approved by the board]; and                (2)  has professional experience in the field of   interior design.          (c)  The board shall adopt rules establishing standards for:                (1)  the recognition and approval of interior design   educational programs; and                (2)  the amounts and types of professional experience   necessary for registration examination eligibility.          SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.     * * * * *
