H.R. No. 52 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, For the 11th consecutive year, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center was named the top cancer care facility in the nation in the 2025-2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals list; and WHEREAS, MD Anderson has been consistently ranked as one of the top two hospitals in the nation for cancer care since the publication's Best Hospitals survey debuted in 1990; this year, in addition to reclaiming the top honor, MD Anderson earned high rankings in otolaryngology, urology, and gastroenterology, and it was further recognized for its excellence in a variety of cancer treatment procedures; and WHEREAS, Headquartered in the Texas Medical Center, MD Anderson provides cancer treatment at several locations throughout the Greater Houston area; the hospital is home to the world's largest cancer clinical trials program, offering patients access to potentially life-saving investigational drugs before they are publicly available; in 2024, approximately 187,000 people received treatment at MD Anderson, and some $1.3 billion was invested in research conducted at the institution; and WHEREAS, The recent U.S. News ranking adds to a growing list of accolades for MD Anderson; the center retained its five-star rating in Vizient's 2024 Quality and Accountability scorecard, and in June of that year, it was awarded its first-ever Magnet with Distinction designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, which has honored the institution annually since 2001; and WHEREAS, The recognition of MD Anderson Cancer Center as the leading cancer center in the nation is a testament to the unwavering dedication of its physicians, staff, and administrators, who have worked tirelessly to meet and exceed the highest standards of care for their patients; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center on being named the best cancer care facility in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and extend to all those associated with the institution sincere best wishes for continued success with their important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for MD Anderson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
