SENATE BILL 1445

 

 

AN ACT

 

amending section 15‑1656, arizona revised statutes; relating to school employee training.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Heading change

The article heading of title 15, chapter 13, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, is changed from "TEACHER TRAINING" to "SCHOOL EMPLOYEE TRAINING".

Sec. 2.  Section 15-1656, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:

START_STATUTE15-1656.  Suicide prevention training programs; requirements

Each teacher, school counselor or school social worker training program in this state shall develop or adopt evidenced‑based instruction on suicide awareness and prevention and provide that instruction to all teacher, school counselor and school social worker candidates in the teacher respective training programs program.  The instruction shall include:

1.  Training in suicide prevention.

2.  Training to identify the warning signs of suicidal behavior in adolescents and teens.

3.  Appropriate intervention and referral techniques. END_STATUTE
