By: Eckhardt  S.B. No. 1013          (In the Senate - Filed January 30, 2025; February 24, 2025,   read first time and referred to Committee on Criminal Justice;   April 3, 2025, rereferred to Committee on Transportation;   April 16, 2025, reported favorably by the following vote:  Yeas 8,   Nays 0; April 16, 2025, sent to printer.)Click here to see the committee vote     A BILL TO BE ENTITLED   AN ACT     relating to the definition of a crosswalk.          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:          SECTION 1.  Section 541.302(2), Transportation Code, is   amended to read as follows:                (2)  "Crosswalk" means:                      (A)  the portion of a roadway, including an   intersection, designated as a pedestrian crossing by surface   markings, including lines; [or]                      (B)  the portion of a roadway at an intersection   that is within the connections of the lateral lines of the sidewalks   on opposite sides of the highway measured from the curbs or, in the   absence of curbs, from the edges of the traversable roadway; or                      (C)  where sidewalks run parallel to a roadway and   are interrupted by a driveway, the portion of the driveway that is   within the connections of the lateral lines of the sidewalks on   opposite sides of the driveway.          SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives   a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as   provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this   Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this   Act takes effect September 1, 2025.     * * * * *
