85R9572 DMS-D     By: Sheffield H.B. No. 3713       A BILL TO BE ENTITLED   AN ACT   relating to longevity pay for members of fire and police   departments in certain counties.          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:          SECTION 1.  Section 141.032, Local Government Code, is   amended to read as follows:          Sec. 141.032.  LONGEVITY PAY. (a)  Except as provided by   Subsection (b), in [In] a municipality with a population of 10,000   or more, each member of the fire or police department is entitled to   receive, in addition to all other money paid for services rendered   in the department, longevity pay of $4 a month for each year of   service in the department, not to exceed 25 years.          (b)  A member of a fire or police department who, after a   break in service, is reemployed on or after September 1, 2017, by a   department with which the member had previously served is not   entitled to longevity pay under Subsection (a) for the prior   service.          SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
