H.R. No. 12       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Manuel Moreno Jr. of J. Frank Dobie High School in   Houston is being inducted into the Texas Tennis Coaches Association   Hall of Fame on December 12, 2025; and          WHEREAS, A Galveston native, Manuel Moreno graduated from   O'Connell Consolidated High School and Lamar University; he served   for 13 years as head tennis coach at O'Connell, directing his   players to a boys' team state championship and to individual state   crowns; he continued to excel as a head coach at Houston Clear Lake   High School, where he also guided athletes to state tournament   berths; additionally, he served as an assistant coach at Lamar   University; and          WHEREAS, Currently, Coach Moreno is entering his 27th year as   head tennis coach at J. Frank Dobie High; he has enjoyed great   success at the helm of the program, leading the Longhorns to   numerous individual and team district championships; and          WHEREAS, Coach Moreno has been honored with many accolades   during his more than four decades as a high school coach; named the   2005 TTCA Class 5A Coach of the Year, he received the association's   Carey Caldwell Character Award five years later; he also garnered   the 2019 Loretta Hrncir Dedication Award, the inaugural Holly Ford   Sportsmanship Award in 2020, and the 2022 Brandon Clark Courage   Award; a longtime youth tennis coach who oversees the City of   Galveston Parks and Recreation Department summer tennis program, he   is a two-time recipient of the United States Tennis Association   Lloyd Sessions Educational Merit Award for his commitment to the   growth of junior tennis in Texas; moreover, he has served for many   years as a tennis columnist for the Galveston County Daily News; and          WHEREAS, Through his exceptional ability to mentor young   student-athletes, Manuel Moreno has distinguished himself as one of   the Lone Star State's elite tennis coaches, and he is indeed   deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Manuel Moreno   Jr. on his induction into the Texas Tennis Coaches Association Hall   of Fame as a member of the Class of 2025 and extend to him sincere   best wishes for the future; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for Coach Moreno as an expression of high regard by the   Texas House of Representatives.     Leo Wilson     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
