No. 8 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, A 60th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Charles and Margaret Semple of Midland marked this joyous milestone on July 31, 2025; and WHEREAS, Charles Semple and the former Margaret Wunsch met while attending Texas Christian University, and they were united in matrimony at a ceremony in Houston on that memorable day in 1965; over the years, they became the parents of two sons, Charles Semple and Brian Semple, and today their fine family has grown to include four grandchildren, Charles, Henry, Edward, and George, and a daughter-in-law, Carrie; and WHEREAS, Respected members of the Midland community, Mr. and Mrs. Semple previously lived in New York and Houston; Mr. Semple has been employed as a stockbroker, landman, and investor in the oil and gas industry, and Mrs. Semple has worked at Hospice of Midland and as a schoolteacher and real estate broker; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Semple have enjoyed traveling across the globe and visiting their grandkids and other loved ones; Mr. Semple spends his free time hunting, fishing, and restoring vintage cars, and he regularly hosts friends and family in his garage for Monday Night Football parties; an avid reader, he has read nearly 1,000 books in a variety of genres, including historical fiction, mysteries, crime, and espionage; Mrs. Semple volunteers with the Junior League of Midland and at First Baptist Church, and her diverse interests include photography, quilting, needlepoint, and attending book club with her friends; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Semple have enjoyed six decades of abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Charles and Margaret Semple on their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the couple as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
