H.B. No. 3104         AN ACT   relating to the appointment and compensation of a bailiff appointed   by the judges of certain district courts in Webb County.          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:          SECTION 1.  Section 53.001(a), Government Code, is amended   to read as follows:          (a)  The judges of the 30th, 70th, 71st, 78th, 89th, and   161st [, and 341st] district courts, the judges of the district   courts having jurisdiction in Taylor County, the judges of the   county courts at law of Taylor County, and the judge of the County   Court of Harrison County shall each appoint a bailiff.          SECTION 2.  Sections 53.001(i) and 53.009(d), Government   Code, are repealed.          SECTION 3.  The changes in law made by this Act do not apply   to a bailiff appointed by the judge of the 341st or 406th district   court before the effective date of this Act.  A bailiff appointed by   the judge of the 341st or 406th district court shall continue to   serve and receive compensation from Webb County in the same manner   as before the effective date of this Act and shall be eligible to   receive any longevity or cost of living salary increases available   to a bailiff serving in Webb County before the effective date of   this Act.  The former law is continued in effect for the purposes of   this section.          SECTION 4.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.       ______________________________ ______________________________      President of the Senate Speaker of the House                   I certify that H.B.
