89S10797 KRT-D     By: Perez of El Paso H.R. No. 38       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Adair Margo of El Paso is being inducted into the   Texas Women's Hall of Fame on November 6, 2025, in a ceremony hosted   by the Office of the Texas Governor and First Lady Cecilia Abbott;   and          WHEREAS, A third-generation El Pasoan, Mrs. Margo was   selected for this honor in recognition of her over four decades of   leadership in the arts and humanities; in 1985, she founded the   Adair Margo Gallery, showcasing more than 400 artists from 12   countries, and she has worked to preserve the legacy of Tom Lea by   creating the Tom Lea Institute and writing books and articles about   the artist; in addition, she has taught at The University of Texas   at El Paso and New Mexico State University; and          WHEREAS, In 2001, Mrs. Margo was appointed by President   George W. Bush to chair the President's Committee on the Arts and   the Humanities, and she has also given generously of her time and   talents to the Texas Commission on the Arts, the Mid-America Arts   Alliance, and the Texas Council for the Humanities; she holds a   bachelor's degree and a master's degree in art history from   Vanderbilt University and New Mexico State University,   respectively; and          WHEREAS, Through her many contributions to the vibrant   cultural life of the Lone Star State, Adair Margo has set an   outstanding example to which others may aspire, and she is richly   deserving of this prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Adair Margo on   her induction into the Texas Women's Hall of Fame and extend to her   sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for Mrs. Margo as an expression of high regard by the Texas   House of Representatives.
