SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Gwendolyn Spratt on her 32 years of spiritual leadership as pastor of the Church of the Blood Covenant in Oak Cliff; and WHEREAS, Born in the small East Texas town of Smithland, Gwendolyn Spratt graduated from Jefferson High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree at Minnesota Metropolitan College and a master's degree at the University of Michigan; and WHEREAS, She later returned to Texas, where she helped to shape countless young minds during her more than 25 years as a teacher with the Dallas Independent School District; she was blessed to marry the love of her life, Dr. Lorenzo Spratt, and to raise their cherished son, Dalen, by loving example; today, her life is immeasurably enriched by the presence of her granddaughter, Axel; and WHEREAS, Called to spiritual service, Dr. Gwendolyn Spratt was ordained as a minister in 1993, and the Church of the Blood Covenant was founded under her pastoral guidance; during her three decades of devoted full-time leadership, she returned to school to earn her doctorate of theological studies from Grace International Seminary; and WHEREAS, Inspirational and attuned to the needs of others, Dr. Spratt is a devoted community servant and a trusted spiritual advisor; through her work and faithful ministry, she has made a positive difference in the lives of countless people in her congregation and beyond, and she is truly deserving of special recognition for her 32 years of pastoral leadership; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Dr. Gwendolyn Spratt on her faithful service as pastor of the Church of the Blood Covenant and extend to her best wishes for success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
